How do you hide all those thread "tails" in cross stitch?
I’m just starting to try out counted cross stitch and find that I need to better hide those countless tails of thread that cover the back of the canvas. They weren’t noticeable from the front until I added the stick on backing and then they all became very apparent! What do I do so the back is not inundated with roads of thread? (I don’t have this problem with needlepoint since everything can be tucked in…what’s the trick with counted cross stitch?)

I was trying to follow the photo but it is not coinciding with the canvas, now I am confused. I am working on an Elsa Williams kit call Rose English Chintz. Do I follow the canvas or photo?

Needlepoint Question:?
I’ve only done 1 needlepoint project, which was years ago. I was looking at a nice one online, but I’m not sure what this means:
COLOR GUIDE ON SIDE OF CANVAS
NO COLOR NUMBERS OR AMOUNTS OF FIBER REQUIRED LISTED ON THIS CANVAS.
So does this mean that the whole image is printed on the canvas, and you match the yarn colors from that? Or is it like a counted-cross stitch project, requiring a seperate chart?
I emailed the seller, but I didn’t hear back!

What are some good beginner guides to stitching?
I LOVE to craft. Sewing has been a big part of my life thus far. I have recently decided that embroidery, cross stitching, and needlepoint may be something I can use to add flair to my projects. I have looked up some books, but there are just too many. I need a guide that will break everything down from supplies and basic stitches to the type of floss and canvas. I am 21 yrs. old… so something that’s a little on the modern side would be nice!
